Ms. Ellen Crivella

Senior Vice President, Project Development & Engineering


As DNV GL’s Senior Vice President for Project Development and Engineering, Ms. Ellen Crivella manages the Offshore Wind team, Engineering team, Environmental and Permitting Services Section, and Energy Assessment Section. Her team of nearly 100 scientists, engineers, and technologists assist the renewables industry starting with early phase site characterization, through all project development activities, and continued into financing and operations. During her 16 years in the renewables industry she has supported over 100 GW of onshore and offshore wind, solar, and storage projects in the US and globally. Prior to her current role Ms. Crivella was DNV GL’s Senior Manager for Strategy and Business Development, where her efforts focused on growing several of DNV GL’s services, with a particular focus on engendering their Offshore Wind service offerings by providing customized approaches to project development in both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean environments. Previous to this she held the role of DNV GL’s Global Head of Practice for Environmental and Permitting Services where she managed comprehensive environmental and social impact assessments, served as a technical advisor for U.S. Trade and Development Agency-funded energy infrastructure projects, provided regulatory compliance support, and led environmental and social due diligence for renewable energy developments globally. As a recognized expert in siting and permitting activities, Ms. Crivella has recently completed a 2-year commitment as the Chair of the AWEA Siting and Environmental Compliance conference, and currently is engaged with several committees and subcommittees pertaining to project siting, licensing, and social acceptance. In 2016 she was recognized by Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy with their annual leadership award.
